Nuala is the director of Carnaval del Pueblo association.
Her Scottish ancestors settled in Latin America and it is there that she spent 6 year teaching English as a second language. Back in the UK, she was delighted to find herself ‘en casa’ with London’s Latin American asylum seeker and refugee community. With a passion for Latin American culture, she works to explore, reveal and create understanding for this community, be it through Saturday schools or events like Carnaval del Pueblo or Plaza Latina Festival. Born a fighter in Casabe,Colombia, she now aims at protecting the interests of this minority in the face of gentrification processes.
